And "Ishtar" Tanked Because Of Prejudice Against Arabs While "Heaven's Gate" Suffered Because Of Anti-Cowboy Feelings

Oliver Stone is blaming his colossal failure "Alexander" on the effects of Christian fundamentalism (i.e. anti-gay prejudice). I haven't had a chance to see the movie yet (but will when it appears on PPV) so I can't comment whether it's good, bad or indifferent. However, I do know that "Troy" did not do so well either. Just because "Gladiator" was a great film doesn't mean that every next sword-and-sandal epic will fly high. Actually, when did Oliver Stone last put out a commercially successful pic? He wrote, produced and directed "Any Given Sunday" but that was in 1999. Since then he has apparently spent the bulk of his time stroking his Fidel Castro fetish with "Comandante" in 2003 and "Looking For Fidel" in 2004.
