Just Because They Said It Doesn't Mean They Said It

I know perception is reality and all that good stuff. But if you are truly interested in what the Democrats actually thought at the time about whether Saddam had WMD, go to the video montage at the Republican National Committee's website. The unmitigated gall of the Kerrys and Hillarys and the rest of this thoroughly dishonest bunch to simply act as though they never made statements in support of the very same conclusion reached by President Bush, and then criticize him for reaching that conclusion...and hope that we are dumb enough to forget or ignore that inconvenient fact. Of course, there has been some attempt lately to explain this apparent inconsistency by saying that these poor, easily led Senators obtained their information "from the Administration", thereby suggesting that it was censored and skewed by the time it got to them. However, if I recall correctly, both John Kerry and John Edwards were at one time members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and, as such, were provided the very same information as was provided to the President. In any event, 7 of the 15 members are, and were, Democrats who had direct access to intel and who presumably reported back to their party buddies. So if Senate Democrats truly didn't get the entire scoop, it can only be for one of two reasons: Either the entire Committee was lied to by our intelligence agencies, or their representatives on the Committee didn't do a good enough job of reporting back.
